Meet Ignis the Unbroken, a high-detail, articulated horned battle dragon designed for both display and durability. This is my first original dragon design, focused on a "battle-hardened" aesthetic with sharp, crystalline scales and heavy-plated armor.

Elemental Dragon Eggs are now available! Size Medium fits Ignis perfectly!

Model Highlights:

  • Optimized Articulation: Smooth movement across the entire 18-inch body (when printed at 56% scale).
  • Easy Multi-Color Printing: The model is pre-segmented into logical groups (Eyes, Belly, and Body) to allow for easy color customization in your slicer without painting.
  • Print-in-Place: Designed to print without supports while maintaining intricate horn and spike detail.

The Backstory: The Last Vanguard

Long ago, during the Great Dragon Wars, while others took to the skies, Ignis stayed on the front lines. Known as the "Iron Vanguard," Ignis was the dragon who stood at the gates of the Ember Citadel for three days against an army of frost giants.

The chips in his scales and the sharpness of his horns aren't just for show—they are the remains of armor that fused to his skin in the heat of magical combat. He is the last of the Unbroken, a silent guardian who carries the scars of a thousand victories. Now, he rests on your desk, waiting for the call to battle once more.

Printing Tips

  • I'm a big fan of the Bambu Cool SuperTack Plate. Fingers crossed I've never had a dragon print fail! but be warned silk filament doesn't do well printed directly on this plate. This is one of the reasons for the coloured belly on Ignis. In order to print on the SuperTack with a non-silk filament belly you have to adjust the settings of the filament.

    • In the slicer:

Change Initial Layer and Other Layers Temperature to 45 degrees

  • Other Plates: There are many small parts a good scrub with warm water and dish soap and a scrubby brush can make a huge difference!
