Description

Super simple model for a clicky fidget spinning wheel. I was getting really tired of those junky print-in-place models that break quickly and then the entire model has to be reprinted.

This model prints in 4 parts which do not require any glue to assemble and can be replaced if they break. Help stop excessive plastic waste and print something that will last and is repairable.

Features:

  • Modular design, parts can be replaced.
  • Easy print, no supports, no overhangs over 45 degrees.
  • No hardware, no glue.
  • Loop to attach on a key chain.
  • Onshape file available to edit.

Print settings:

  • Filament: PLA will work fine. I would suggest PETG for the spring for enhanced durability.
  • Layer height: 0.2mm
  • Infill: 15%
  • Walls: 2
  • Top/bottom layers: 4

Post-printing:

  1. Remove from buildplate.
  2. Add lubricant to the wheel if you want, but it is not required.
  3. Take the bottom part (biggest part), insert the spring, then the wheel, then put the top panel on. If the assembly doesn't make sense, look at the photo attached, or check out the Onshape file, which has all the parts in the correct spots.
  4. Spin wheel and hear the clicks!

Spring isn't stiff enough? Try heating it up and carefully pulling it to make it a little bit stiffer.
