Description

Knife Sharpening Jig for Whetstones (Gridfinity System)

This is my version of a knife sharpening jig for whetstones. I found a few things i missed in other models, so I designed this version to be more organized and versatile.

✨ Key Features:

  • Swappable Angles: Includes top plates for 15°, 17°, 20°, and 25° sharpening angles.

  • Save on Hardware: The modular design allows you to swap angles while using the same set of bearings, significantly reducing the amount of hardware needed if you want multiple angles.

  • Gridfinity Compatible: Both the base and the angle bin use Gridfinity standard for easy storage in your workshop.

  • Whetstone Compatibility: Designed for stones around 185mm x 65mm x 32.2mm(L x w x H) , but the base supports stones up to 240mm in length.

  • Height Spacer: Includes a spacer for use with thinner 15.6mm whetstone 185mm length (optional)

🛠️ Hardware Required:

  • Bearings: 4x 608ZZ bearings.
  • Magnets: 15x 6x2 mm round magnets (if printing all angle plates)

🔧 Assembly Instructions:

  1. Bearings: Press-fit the 608ZZ bearings to the angle base.
    • Tip: Use the edge of a workbench to apply pressure if the fit is tight.

  2. Magnets: Use a drop of superglue to secure the magnets.
    • Warning: Check the polarity carefully before gluing! Ensure the magnets on the base and the plates attract each other correctly.

    •

🖨️ Recommended Print Settings:

  • Material: i use PLA tough+ but I think PLA and PETG work fine too.
  • Walls: 4 wall loops for structural rigidity.
  • Infill: 30% (Gyroid suggested).
