⚓ The LED Sea Mine: Explosive Light Design (WLED)

Bring maritime flair with a modern twist to your desk This fully functional LED lamp designed like a classic sea mine uses 40 individually addressable pixels to project light effects directly through its characteristic "horns" (spikes)

Thanks to WLED control, you can simulate explosions, display gentle wave movements, or make the mine pulsate to the rhythm of your music

🌟 Features

  • Unique Look: An absolute eye-catcher, whether on or off
  • 40 Light Points: Each horn of the mine is illuminated by its own WS2811 pixel
  • WLED Integration: Easy control via the WLED app (WLAN)

🛠 Required Hardware (BOM)

For this project, you will need the following components

🔧 Assembly Instructions

  1. Preparation: Print all parts
  2. LED Installation: Press the 12mm WS2811 pixels from the inside into the horn receptacles. The wiring is done in a continuous chain. A cable must be routed through the chain and either connected with a plug or soldered together. I used solder connectors for this
  3. Controller: Insert the GLEDOPTO controller into the base and place the cable in the guide
  4. Assembly: Join the two sphere halves with the small plug connectors. Screw the chain to the sphere with the threaded insert. Then screw the chain and sphere onto the base
  5. Software: Connect the controller to your WLAN and configure 40 LEDs in WLED
