Boost Me (for free)
I would be thrilled to get even one boost for my first 3d model. I have lots in the works so stay tuned!
I present to you my very first 3d model ever. I'm super proud and excited to share it with you all on MakerWorld. I welcome all suggestions to improve this product and my skills in general.
This is a Volume Cap insert for a Pontiac G6, a first gen 2005-2009 Chevy Equinox, the 2004-2007 Chevy Malibu, and possibly other GM vehicles as well.
Please do not adjust the scaling. I've got the sizing finely tuned so it sits nicely in the socket. Any larger and the volume knob won't turn properly. Any smaller and it will be loose. It presses in well and and remains level while rotating. I intentionally made it stick out a couple mm so you can easily remove it with your finger nails. The texture you see is from being printed on a Textured PEI Plate with PLA filament.
There are 3 versions for you to choose from:
- A version with a power symbol cutout. (⏻)
A version with the cut-out word “text”. This is so you can modify the cut-out word to your choosing more easily. It should be set up to cut the word out of the 3d model base, so light will shine through at night. Just change the text by clicking on the ‘text’ word itself in Bambu Studio prepare tab, and then press the ‘text shape’ button on the overhead bar. Or press ‘t’ on the keyboard.
IMPORTANT! Some letters don't print/cut out well. Letters such as O, A, B, R, D, or any letter with a close hole, the center of that letter will most likely remain on your printer bed after printing. So please be mindful of that.
And if you want to add symbols or emojis, you MUST change the font to Segoe UI Symbol or Segoe UI Emoji, otherwise it won't be recognized. Then simply copy the symbol and paste or enter using ALT-Code keyboard inputs. And do not rotate the text or it won't be level.
- This version is blank with no text at all. No light will shine through when installed in your car.
Thank you for having a look at my first completed project. I hope it's useful for anyone else who also had a missing volume cap. Hahaha! I know it's simple, but the whole process for me was a massive learning experience, and extremely rewarding. I am new to 3D printing and design and am having so much fun. Having an idea/solution, designing it on a computer, then having it almost immediately in my hands is just mind blowing to me. I've got lots of ideas and everyday solutions in the works so please stay tuned!
