25/01/2025 - Version 2. Chinese character "马" (Horse) well oriented on both sides. Geometry modified in some parts to reduce supports and facilitate printing. Negative hole added at the bottom to facilitate the removal of internal supports. The last three photos are of version 2.

Celebrate Lunar New Year 2026 with this decorative figure of the Year of the Horse. The design combines filigree as if they were stylized wind scrolls with the Chinese character "马" (Horse) integrated into the body, symbolizing success and prosperity.

The print profile includes applied Fuzzy Skin. This provides a premium texture that hides layer lines on the body.

Printing details:

  • Supports (Mandatory): Due to the numerous overhangs of the filigree, the use of supports is mandatory and there are quite a few. Exercise patience and care when removing supports to protect the details.
  • Critical Adhesion: The legs have little contact surface. Good adhesion is essential to avoid failures. Highly recommended to use glue or hairspray.
  • Calibration: Make sure your flow and retractions are well calibrated. Excess material will close the design's gaps, and poor retraction will leave difficult-to-clean strings.
  • Layer Height: Sliced at 0.20 mm. If you want more details, you can set it to a lower layer height (don't forget to share the profile though😉

Beautiful! Hard to get rid of the support inside, but worth it. I used Bambu PLA Sparkle.

Sunlu Silk PLA+ Light Gold- PS2; It turns out really good first try. No issues. printed over night and let it cool down before I started removing the support. Not too difficult when I was using the nose tip plier. I really love the design and default size looks great. Thank you.

finally failing 3 times got to print it successful. for those foaling please do auto rotate so that it won't fail. it works for me. the original placement has an issue the printing force will lift the legs which I encounter.

Very nice in that color. I'm sorry you had to print it 3 times, thank you for keeping at it. Initially, the orientation was set this way to favor the auxiliary fan of closed Bambu Lab printers, but I will review it and take it into account. Thank you for your contribution and Happy New Year 😉

The supports need to be removed very carefully! But some are still hard to clip out

excellent print in silk - I used Bambu Labs velvet eclipse silk PLA (red black) and it came out beautiful. one very strong word of warning, be careful with making the tree supports too strong. I printed this in 0.12mm layers and with 0.14mm top z distance it was too close and the interfaces started to fuse. perhaps do 0.16mm if printing in 0.12mm layer heights. the toughest parts to remote the supports from was the tail section and where the Chinese characters are. there's quite a bit of support there. if you're printing with 2 walls instead of 3, be careful of snapping off the legs and tail, good luck.

It's time to hand in the homework, make sure the supports are adjusted well, it's best to spray glue on the heat bed or it will fall off, thanks again!

great bicolor. It is certainly good to use glue on the hotbed to avoid problems. Greetings and thank you very much for the photos and your words

Pretty solid print. After 16hrs of printing, I was getting a bit anxious but it turned out awesome! Pretty happy with the result. Now if you can make the same for every zodiac that will be awesome hehehe. Thank you so much!!

Tried to print 3 times, twice scaled at 50% of original, and one at original dimensions. The same leg keeps snapping off during printing -- i thought it was a bed adhesion issue so i have washed my plate thoroughly after each print, but the same issue keeps happening. Ive been using tree support (auto, organic). Can anyone offer suggestions on what's the issue here? I'll try tree (manual) supports soon to see if it makes a difference. I've also calibrated my filament for retraction, temperature etc and managed to print a 9h godzilla print with it before, so it should be no issue.

Hello The smaller size could be a problem because it's weaker Have you tried the profile I shared If you use a custom one without using the fuzzy skin I had set up reduce the outer speed to 80 and the inner to 160 The fuzzy skin makes it go slower improving the finish and promoting adhesion I usually use 015/015

very nice horse. For me, a leg broke off immediately when loosening the support. I could glue it. It's more an object to display, not a toy
