Description
This is a housing for a 7" display screen often used with a Raspberry Pi. I made this one to run OctoPrint. The measurements are precisely made to fit the 7" display screen available on Amazon for about $40. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CRRB1GFN?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1 It will probably fit other displays as well; I think some of the generic ones on AliExpress have the same dimensions as this. I have provided pictures with a caliper showing the exact measurements of key areas of the screen and the housing.
The design is split into two halves. They connect to each other without the need for glue, but there is enough in the slots for each tab that you can fit glue inside without causing problems. I also provided an un-split model in case you want to print it all at once, but be careful about how you orient the model because any supports that get inside the narrow crevasse meant to pinch the circuit board edge are extremely difficult to remove, even if you with the use of support PLA. *NOTE - Once you connect the two sides together fully they are VERY difficult to split back apart, so check your fit before connecting them fully!
On the backside I have added two small holes for the purpose of affixing a Pi to the back. This is meant to allow you to create a strap to connect a Raspberry Pi to the back of it. It could be a fabric strap or something you designed in Tinkercad or wherever. Whatever case you use for your Pi will have its own unique dimensions, so I did not make a built-in mount. The distance between the screw holes is 99mm. Or just use strong two-way tape!
** If you print this I would really appreciate it if you could leave a Star Rating! Thanks!
If there are any requests for it in the comments, I will make a stand attachment to mount this to the top support beam of a Bambu A1 printer. Let me know! Happy printing!
