Description

The Cup Holder Revolution has begun! Just published the next evolution in this lineup. Before you print the original, go have a peek at Holdeez!

Many of us know that one guy. You know - the one who always shows up to places carrying a half-gallon jug of iced tea, lemonade, or whatever else. I made this as a gag gift for that one guy. I’d seen the gallon jug crate, but couldn’t find a half gallon, so I got to work.

I spent a while cooking up the model for the milk crate, then grafted on the shell of the Red Bull Cup Holder Sleeve I made a while back, and here we are!

Holds a "standard" US half gallon jug, like what you'd get iced tea, lemonade, milk, etc. in. I checked the size against a half gallon of milk from Shop Rite as well as a Wawa jug, and both fit just fine. Obviously not an exhaustive test, but the inside of the crate is 110x110mm, so measure before printing if you're not sure!

Profiles are setup for PETG and PLA. If you plan on leaving this in a vehicle, especially in warmer climates, consider printing in something other than PLA. PETG, PCTG, ABS, or ASA are all excellent candidates for that situation.

Want just the crate? Here you go!

You'll note some modifier blocks in the profile - those are there to slow things down during printing of all those overhangs on the grid part of the crate. It's to ensure good-looking results. If you mess with those modifiers, I'll assume you know what you're doing. :)

My sample prints are done in either eSun PLA Basic in Cold White or Sunlu Matte PETG in Gray.

Update: I had a request for something sized for a 1L bottle of water, and here it is! Stay hydrated!

Update: By request, I've added a couple of new variants of the standard-height holder. Now, there's storage space in the bottom. First version is just a simple threaded “plug” that screws in from the top. The second new variant is also 2-parts, where the bottom unscrews, revealing a storage compartment. Guys, please be responsible. I bear no responsibility for what you store in these things. Please, don't be dumb.

Did you know? Since the bottom part of the 2-piece version is basically the same as the Red Bull Cup Holder, that it can also serve the same purpose. 8.4 and 12oz cans definitely fit, and 16 oz Red Bull size cans should also fit! Shouts out to Mary for the idea. Also shouts out to Bob and Ed, who have been great sounding boards!
