Description

Make your celebrations "un-bee-lievable" with these Realistic Honey Bee Cake Toppers. This design takes the popular honey bee model and adds a functional twist: a customizable negative element in the abdomen, allowing you to mount your bees on cake topper sticks of various sizes. Whether it’s for a baby shower, a garden-themed wedding, or a birthday party, these bees add a professional, high-detail touch to any dessert.

The model is printed in two main parts: a multi-color honey bee body (Black and Yellow) and translucent wings that slide into place for a lifelike finish.

Key Features:

  • Adjustable Mounting: The "stomach" of the bee features a hole designed to fit mounting sticks.
  • Included Accessories: I have included printable 5mm diameter sticks (split in half for easier printing; just glue them together).
  • Efficiency First: Since bees are social creatures, I recommend printing a "swarm" of 5 or more at once. This reduces filament waste during color changes on AMS systems and makes for a more stunning cake display!

Printing & Assembly Instructions

The Honey Bee Body

  • Material: Black and Yellow PLA.
  • Supports: Required. Important: Be very careful when removing supports around the antennae. Use a hot air gun to soften the supports for safer removal.
  • Mounting Hole: The hole is located on the underside. You can scale the model in your slicer to adjust the hole size if your specific sticks are thicker or thinner than 5mm.

The Wings

  • Material: Transparent/Clear PLA.
  • Settings: Use a Brim for stability.
  • Assembly: Remove the brim and slide the wings into the slot on the bee's back. If the fit is tight, a quick hit with a hot air gun will help them slide in perfectly.

The Sticks

  • Design: The included 5mm sticks are cut in half vertically to ensure they print flat and strong.
  • Assembly: Glue the two halves together.
  • ⚠️ Safety Note: If these are being used on an actual edible cake, I strongly recommend using food-safe acrylic or wooden skewers instead of 3D printed plastic. If you do print the sticks, ensure you use a food-safe filament and coating.

Please check your file. When printing, at the last hour, it begins to go nuts and cause the front cover of the toolhead to come off. That is with the file being printed exactly as you have it. I then tried to print just two bees and it did the same thing at the last hour. Lots of globbed filament and the front cover pulled completely out this time.
