Description

This is a PTFE passthrough adapter designed to convert airtight food storage containers (commonly known as "cereal containers") into filament dry boxes that can be printed from directly.

Key Features

  • No Modification Required: Unlike other dry box builds that require drilling holes into the container, this adapter fits directly into the existing pour spout.
  • Preserves Container Function: Because the container is not permanently altered, the adapter can be used during printing and then removed to swap the original airtight lid seal back in for long-term storage.
  • Dry Feeding: Allows for the feeding of filament directly from the sealed environment to the printer. This is critical for printing hygroscopic materials (like TPU, PETG, or Nylon) that absorb moisture quickly.

Installation & Usage Notes

  • Tight Fit: The passthrough hole is designed with tight tolerances to ensure a secure friction fit against the PTFE tube. It may be difficult to insert the tube initially. If the fit is too tight for your specific brand of tubing, the hole can be easily widened with a standard drill bit.
  • Security: The adapter relies on a friction fit within the spout. If additional security is required during long prints to prevent the adapter from lifting, a small piece of tape can be applied to the rim.
