A custom insert designed to neatly store all components of Energy Empire while keeping the box perfectly closed with no lid-lift. Every item has its place, making setup faster and smoother.

🔑 Key Features

Quick Setup & Table-Ready: components are organized for fast setup, and trays can be used directly during gameplay.

Sleeve-Friendly: all card slots accommodate sleeved cards (up to 60 microns).

No Lid Lift: the insert fits perfectly inside the box without raising the lid.

📦 What’s Inside

The insert includes 13 component trays for player pieces, dice, resources, coins, and tokens:

  • 1 long tray for the energy dice, divided into three compartments;
  • 5 player component trays, each keeping starting pieces separate from supply pieces, or used for the UN Envoy Expansion;
  • 3 resource trays:
    • 2 large trays for plastic blocks and steel girders;
    • 1 medium tray for oil barrels;
  • 1 tall small tray for the small coins;
  • 2 large trays for science tokens, pollution tokens, oil well tokens, and the large coins (available in two versions: one for the deluxe components and one for the standard components);
  • 1 medium tray for alternate location tiles.

For card management, the insert includes 4 dedicated trays:

  • 2 small card trays (4 compartments each) for the base game and the Cold War Expansion (available in two versions: one for the 43 × 65 sleeves and one for the 45 × 68 sleeves);
  • 2 large card trays (one for the base game, one for the Cold War Expansion). Beneath the cards, each tray includes space for 4 UN track boards (8 total) for the UN Envoy Expansion.

An optional tab to lift the gameboard along with the rulebook and player boards.

🧩 Recommended Organization

  1. For an optimal setup, arrange the two small card trays in the upper part of the box.
  2. Then place the two large token trays along with the tall small tray for the small coins and the alternate location tile tray in the middle.
  3. On top of the token trays, put the two large resource trays and the medium resource tray over the tile tray.
  4. Next, place the five player component trays, and on top, the dice tray and the two large card trays.
  5. Finally, place the tab over the trays, then add the game board, the rulebook, and the five player boards. Place the UN security council replacement board in the resource space above the last player board (as shown in the pictures; it was not included in the first image).

You can invert the contents of each row or change the order of the rows. For example, you could place the small card trays in the middle of the box and the large card trays at the bottom of the upper section, with the dice tray and player component trays on top. However, it is recommended to place them on the bottom, as this is more logical considering the player count.

📌 Important Notes

  • The card trays for the small cards have a usable slot size of 46,25 × 68 mm in the 43 × 65 version and 48,50 × 72 mm in the 45 × 68 mm version and support sleeves up to 60 microns (tested with PYN sleeves). The vertical clearance fits the cards exactly.
  • The card trays for the large cards (63 × 88 mm) have a usable slot size of 67 × 92 × 10,55 mm and support sleeves up to 60 microns (tested with PYN sleeves). There may be some vertical clearance in the trays, but storing the box vertically should cause no issues with the cards.

⚠️ Warning! This project requires a significant amount of filament and printing time.
