Description

This is a fully parametric over-the-door hanger designed to fit any door perfectly.

Unlike standard store-bought hooks that are often too loose or too tight, you can customize this design to the exact millimeter of your door thickness using the MakerWorld customizer.

The design features a sturdy J-hook profile for holding coats, towels, bags, or robes. It is designed with rounded aesthetic caps on the tips and rounded outer corners on the top bracket to prevent snagging fabrics, while keeping sharp inner corners to ensure a snug, stable fit against the square edge of the door.

Here is how to configure the settings to fit your needs:

Door Dimensions:

  • Door Thickness: Measure your door precisely and enter the value here (in mm).
  • Tolerance: This adds a small gap so the hook slides on easily without scratching. 1.0mm is usually a good standard, but increase it if you want a looser fit.

Hook Dimensions:

  • Hook Width: This is the width of the hook as it sits on the door (or the Z-height during printing). A wider hook is stronger.
  • Wall Thickness: How thick the plastic parts are. 5mm is standard; go thicker for heavy bags.
  • Drop Length: The distance from the top of the door down to where the hook curve starts.
  • Hook Radius: The size of the "J" curve. Larger radius holds thicker items like straps or bundled towels.
  • Back Tab Length: The length of the small tab behind the door. A longer tab provides more stability and prevents the hook from leveraging off when loaded.
