Ferris Wheel Build Kit (dog treat version incl.)
Print Profile(2)

Description
Created to compete with the wooden and card board build kits on other sites. Why use popsicle stick or cardboard when you can print your own model. The ferris wheel is 20" (500mm) tall when assembled and has 8 seats. My goal with this project was too eliminate supports and the need for glue. Almost got there! I believe the only seats and the dog treat cups require a a few trees. Seats are print in place with a hinged foot rest. I will also be uploading an heightening kit to take the wheel up to 620mm. If time allows, I will be creating a crank mechanism add-on.
Assembly:
- Grab a hub and the octagonal ring.
- Slide the girders through the octagonal ring before inserting into the hub and knock a pin into place (pics show the direction of the girders). Make sure the dovetail groove is aimed in the same direction as the hub.
- Push the hubs of the two assembled “wheels” together aligning the grooves. This should be easy and straight forward.
- Insert the two “stage 2” uprights into the assembled wheel and then slide the two uprights into which ever base you ended up printing. I used the base with the step for the dog treat version. You should now have a spinning wheel.
- Place either the seats or the dog treat cups into position making sure they (seats) face in the same rotational direction.
- Place the 8 dovetail spacers into place to lock the girders from flexing outward.
- Give it a whirl and have some fun! My 4 doggies had a ball.
There are a lot of pictures so try to uses these for reference during your build. I'd really like to see different colour combos so please post photos.
