Summary

Want a life-size practice bomb just like those used by US Air Force and US naval fighter pilots to practice their bomb drops?  This replica use surprisingly little filament for its size, but is still very sturdy.  Assembly is very straightforward and it only takes a minute.

What is the BDU-33 / Mk 76? The BDU-33 and MK 76 are small, 25-pound practice bombs designed to mimic the aerodynamic flight characteristics of full-sized 500-pound munitions during military pilot training. While the Air Force primarily utilizes the BDU-33 and the Navy uses the MK 76, both units feature a spotting charge that releases a puff of white smoke upon impact to provide immediate visual feedback on bombing accuracy.

Assembly is easy

  1. Simply use the provided pegs to connect all the blue parts together (the model photos will help give you a reference for their order and orientation).  You can either use the looser or tighter pegs depending on your material – you could always print one peg and try it out if you aren't sure.  If you intend to glue it, then the looser pegs are better.
  2. Then screw the silver top mount into the bomb (try not to overtighten)
  3. Lastly insert the plunger looking silver piece into the tip.

Thanks :-)
