Description

Replacement Gear and Knob for the Moulinex Salad Spinner Type 313.0.00

Printed this entire object, instead of just a knob, since the polypropylene plastic of the original salad spinner makes adhesion of just a new knob very hard.
Printed with PETG for best strength and durability.

(mine looks ugly since I only had glass PETG)

How to assemble:

Super Glue needed; I used cyanoacrylate and an activator

First check if the pieces fit together without glue.
The knob can already be placed on the knob pin. Do keep in mind, you cannot remove it once it is in place.

if needed, sand down the extruding lip of the gear as the surface can be rough, which make adhesion more difficult

Glue the parts together in the following order:

  1. Slide the Knob pin, into the knob pin base. This can only be done in one orientation. Add a drop of glue and press together. (sand the bottom of the two glued parts smooth if needed)
  2. If not done so already, snap the Knob onto the Knob Pin. Press firmly. (It wont rotate very smootly, but it's not an issue)
  3. Glue the Knob pin Base to the gear lip. Look for the orientation as it can only fit in one direction. Dont get glue between the base and the knob itself
  4. Flip the gear box around. Glue to the Axis Pin into the central hole. Make sure to glue the solid end of the axis pin. Not the split end

I personally used a two part glue of cyanoacrylate and an activator. Use little glue but make sure the entire surface is covered. Press together for 2 minutes, and leave to harden overnight before testing the bond strength.

Disclaimer: I have not yet long term stress tested the bonds between the glued objects. If you do notice weakness please let me know and I'll try to come up with a stronger design.

Additional Disclaimer: This object is not dishwasher safe.
