Description
This holder came about as a simple house project.
One evening, my wife and I wanted to tidy up our kid's shelf space, which was full of drawings, books and magazines. We quickly realized that we didn't really have any organizers to sort everything properly. I thought about printing one (since it was holiday time, the stores were closed), but after looking online, nothing really caught my eye - so I figured, maybe I should make one myself?
And that's how this simple organizer came to life.

It took three tries to get it both right and aesthetically pleasing.
1st print - White - had wrong orientation, cooling and wall speed issues, that is why there are extruded layers lines all around.
2nd print - Nebula Purple - similar problems. Tried to fix it with adaptive layers and slower outer walls, but that caused the same issue and the hole lost it's shape.
3rd print - Burnt Titanium - This was the one that I was happy with. Changed the orientation - the tall wall was on the other side of the plate, away from fan. Seam painted on the inside corner, inner and outer wall speed matched and it worked like a charm. There are still visible layer bands on the inside but they don't affect functionality and outside aesthetics.
But all three of them serve their purpose.
LABEL NOTES:
Customizable - label text can be edited directly in BambuStudio;
The label model includes built-in borders so letters do not interfere with the viewing window and doesn't affect fitment;
A physical border may or may not be visible depending on nozzle size, line width and slicer settings;
The label is designed to look clean with or without a visible border.
Label size - 36x84.8, 0.6mm thick base.
PRINT NOTES:
Print-in-place - no supports required;
Recommended orientation - place tall wall away from the part cooling fan;
Seam - intentionally hidden on the inside, in one of the tall corners;
Matching inner and outer wall speeds - provided the best surface quality. Slower wall speeds are intentional due to the tall vertical walls;
Visible layer bands may appear on the inside depending on filament and cooling, but do not affect functionality;
External edges are gently rounded for a more comfortable user experience.
Profile provided and optimized for PLA with a 0.4mm nozzle;
Layer height: 0.2mm - switching to 0.24 or 0.28 layer height introduced G-code issues during testing; 0.2 also provided the best surface finish (and also explains the long print time)
Base is 4mm thick, 100% infill for stability.
Walls are 2mm thick for rigidity and stability;
Cooling - Aux fan set to 70% to stabilize tall vertical walls.
Printed on BambuLabs P1S.
Despite the longer print time, the result is a rigid, stable organizer for daily use.
Remixes and material experiments (e.g. wood PLA) are welcome - feel free to share your results.
