Description
A very economical and compact 48V lithium battery solution,
The cells used are Penghui's 40135-20Ah LiFePO4 batteries (the same cells used in DJI outdoor power supplies), suitable for most electric vehicles on the market. Compared to lead-acid batteries, which need to be replaced every two to three years, this is much more cost-effective, safer, and economical. Here's a summary of the costs:
1. Penghui 40135 batteries, 16 cells: 320 yuan
2. Jikong 60A 0.6A balanced 8~24 series protection board: 68 yuan
3. 14AWG silicone wire: 5 yuan
4. XT60 connector: 4 yuan
5. Printed box bracket filament: 10 yuan
Total cost: 407 yuan
Compared to a 48V 20Ah lead-acid battery, the cost for a trade-in replacement is about 235 yuan. If there's no old battery, a new purchase costs 475.8 yuan. The estimated lifespan is 8~10 years (calendar life for lithium batteries). Normal riding and charging/discharging cycles are unlikely to wear it out, with a cycle life of 2000+. The battery might not break even if the electric scooter falls apart.
Dimensions: The length, width, and height are similar to two 20Ah lead-acid batteries, with the width slightly exceeding. Actual installation proved problem-free, and riding power is strong. The weight is less than two lead-acid batteries, more than half lighter, which benefits range. If high power is not needed, a Jikong 40A protection board can be used, further reducing costs. I chose a larger protection board because I plan to use it as a portable power supply later when the vehicle is no longer in use. The peak current can reach 100A. Those interested can discuss in the comments section. The project is completed and currently in use.
