Description
Kerf-Mounted TPU Door Seal – Low Compression Draft-Stopping Lip
This is a kerf-mounted (slot-in) door seal designed for door frames with a groove/kerf slot, commonly found on exterior doors.
Unlike foam or hollow weatherstrips, this seal uses a thin, solid flexible lip that bends instead of compressing.
This prevents the door from being pushed outward, making it ideal for doors with smart locks that require precise alignment.
The design focuses on:
- Stopping drafts and cold air
- Minimal closing force
- No spring-back effect
- Reliable door locking
Perfect for anyone struggling with:
- Drafts around exterior doors
- Smart locks failing to lock due to foam weatherstrips
- Hard-to-find kerf seal profiles
Key Features
- ✅ Kerf / slot-in mounting (no adhesive)
- ✅ Low-compression flexible lip design
- ✅ Draft-blocking without pushing the door outward
- ✅ Smart-lock friendly (Yale, electronic locks, tight tolerances)
- ✅ Printable in TPU
- ✅ Durable and weather-resistant
Why This Design Works
Most foam and D-shaped seals rely on compression, which creates a spring effect that can:
- Push the door out
- Prevent smart locks from engaging
- Cause uneven sealing
This model uses a wiper-style lip seal, similar to industrial and automotive applications.
The lip flexes sideways instead of compressing, allowing the door to fully seat in the frame while still sealing against drafts.
