This is a mechanical, click-wheel style counter and stand designed to track how many books you’ve read this year. Instead of loose dice or hanging tiles, this counter uses rotating number rings with a satisfying tactile click, making it both functional and fun to interact with.

It’s designed to live happily on a bookshelf or desk, and the counter itself can be lifted out and spun by hand for easy updates (and a little fidget joy).

🖨️ Printing & Assembly

This model is printed in multiple parts to:

• Save print time
• Eliminate the need for supports
• Make colour changes easy for the multi-colour versions.

Assembly is simple:

• You’ll need a small amount of super glue or contact cement
• Add glue to the inner edge of the opening in the backing piece. Slot the base into the backing from the front and press into place
  • Pro tip: lay the backing flat on its back while fitting the base to ensure a flush, even fit
• To assemble the counter:
  • Slide the number rings onto the body
  • Screw the cap on top, making sure the arrow indicator is centered on one of the number ring facets

🎨 Colour Options & Print Profiles

This model includes:

• Single-colour versions (single plate prints)
• Multi-colour versions available under Print Profiles

The multi-colour profiles are designed to use layer colour changes only, not mid-layer swaps. This keeps printing simple, reduces print time, and can also work on non-AMS machines if you'd like to do manual filament swaps.

• Gold and pink paint were added by hand to highlight details on the counter

🔧 Fit & Tolerances

• There may be a small amount of vertical wiggle in the number rings. This may be revised in future editions. For now, I just position the rings an equal distance apart.
