Janus is a major deity of ancient Rome, guardian of thresholds, beginnings, and transitions. He embodies the passage between past and future, between what has ended and what is yet to come.
Depicted with two opposing faces, Janus looks simultaneously backward and forward. This dual gaze symbolizes reflection on the past while remaining open to the future, making him the protector of doors, gateways, and the flow of time.
This bust pays tribute to that timeless duality, inspired by classical statuary, with a balanced and sober sculptural form where both faces coexist as one.
