Description

21700 20S1P Battery Spacers (Pint/X/S)

This spacer set is designed for a 20S1P configuration using 21700 cells, specifically tailored for the stock Onewheel Pint X/S battery enclosures. While designed for stock boxes, it may fit aftermarket Pint X/S enclosures (unsure).

The Build Approach

To fit these cells without crushing them (compression), this design uses a staggered layout.

  • Modification Required: You must remove the plastic BMS divider wall in the stock box.
  • BMS Placement: This is designed to relocate the BMS to the side of the pack. It is specifically modeled to work with the SSBMS using the included bracket.
  • Alignment: The spacers use a simple peg-and-hole system to keep the two halves aligned during assembly.

Recommended Cells

Since this is a 1P configuration, high-discharge cells are essential. Recommended cells (at the current time) include:

  • Molicel P45B / P50B
  • EVE 50PL
  • BAK 45D
  • Ampace JP50
  • Reliance RS50

Print Settings & Fitment

This design includes two diameter variations to account for different cell diameters/tolerances:

  • 21.5mm: Optimized for Reliance RS50.
  • 21.6mm: Optimized for Molicel P45B/P50B.

Note: Printer tolerances vary. I highly recommend printing a small "test slice" of the spacer to verify the fit with your specific cells before committing to the full print.

  • Material: While PLA is ok, a high-temperature filament (like PETG, ASA, or ABS) is strongly recommended.

Required Parts List

  • 2x Spacers
  • 4x Alignment Pegs
  • 3x Plates (1 to cover the front, 1 for the rear, and 1 for the middle separating the halves)
  • 8x Channel Covers (Optional – for balance wire protection)

Additional Files

  • DXF for Fish Paper: Optional safety layer. Note: mirror the pattern before cutting.
  • DXF for Nickel: These are a pain to cut by hand. If you use a cutting module (like on the H2) to score them, be careful as it will break your blade (the kit comes with 2 spares).

Important Notes

  • Thermistors: There are cutouts on the top and bottom to thermal paste thermistors directly to the cells.
  • Clearance: Space is very tight between the pack and the SSBMS. Keep your balance wires short and neat. I highly recommend putting Kapton tape over the BMS to prevent the wires from rubbing through their insulation.
