After the official PV of 'JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run' was released, I revisited SBR, a deeply fatalistic epic about luck and misfortune.
I modeled and created Gyro Zeppeli's weapon, the 'Steel Ball,' but I didn't just want to make a cosplay prop. Instead, I tried to incorporate more character-related elements into it, so I drew 'Golden Ratio Spirals' and the movable 'Saint's Right Eye' on the two separate upper and lower parts of the Steel Ball. And with the same concept, I made an informative rotatable base, including the Zeppeli family crest, Stand name, and more.

I really like this model, and I hope it brings joy to fellow fans who also enjoy this manga.

Structural diagram

Filament:

I used Cai Lab Silk Gold 99 & Bambu PLA Silk+ Candy Green

The material presets in the 3mf project file are for reference, but the combination of silk gold and silk green is quite beautiful and recommended.

Print settings:

I have set the necessary supports and shielding, the wall generator is Arachne, please confirm the profile before printing.

Accessories:
Steel Ball requires 4 pairs of 4×2mm magnets
Base requires 3 pairs of 4×2mm magnets & 1x 3×30mm stainless steel dowel pin
Both accessories can be found in Bambu Maker's Supply

Inspiration reference:
The spherical shell on the base was inspired by this Xiaohongshu blogger's wonderful JOJO jewelry design: JOJO | Gyro Zeppeli Steel Ball Rotation Necklace - Xiaohongshu

What is the reason for this when printed

The top details are blurry, with regular edge corner defects, and the causes are relatively complex. I don't know your printer's situation, but printing too fast, improper temperature and cooling, and inaccurate extrusion are all possible. Is this happening with other models too? If so, it's best to do all possible calibrations when the filament is dry. Generally, printing back and forth can solve six to seven tenths of the problems

Seems to be an issue with the printer for the earlier layers, but the top layers could use some variable layer hight.

glad you’re giving this a shot. Those holes are for 4×2mm magnets—just glue ’em in, like I said in the Accessories section. Let me know if you run into any other issues.

Hey! I don’t know exactly how small you’re aiming for, but this model was crafted to match the original Steel Ball’s scale from the manga as closely as possible. If we shrink it further, some details might get lost.

Other Issues:this thing just did not want to print well for me... supports were near impossible to get off, and the top always had some sort of failure. finally got one that was fine enough.
