Description

Model robot of CUBIX from the show CUBIX Robots for Everyone, an old kid's show.

There are a few action figures of this model, but are quite hard to find so I decided to make my own. The model is designed an build by me, it was designed before having a 3D printer so prototyping was hard. There are a few thighs that are not that great design wise, mainly the swivel joints, which are very flimsy, initially it was designed to have magnets there but they were not strong enough, and also the ball joints could have better tolerances. I compensated this by adding superglue on some ball joints in order to make them tighter. Also on the pivoting parts of the joints i added a few layers of paper duck tape, in order to make them tighter. It is important on the shoulder joints to add a bend in the wire in order to have a stiff joint.

The model requires wires, of different thickness, 2mm, 1mm and 0.5mm, 2 screws of 2x12mm and a few round magnets of 5x2mm

I printed this model on the finest possible settings, with a 0.2mm nozzle and a 0.06mm layer height. I added also a printing profile for a 0.4mm nozzle but it is not tested. I would recommend manually painting the supports as the one generated automatically are quite hard to remove in some places and also influence the shape of the print slightly

The height of the model is about 22cm

This is my first designed model and upload so further improvements will come in the future. Unfortunately I will not further improve the model, at the moment as I want to focus on new things so any improvements are welcome, I also uploaded all the 3D parts files.

The finished model you see has been sanded and painted with an airbrush in order to achieve this look.

Attached in the document is the face which can be printed on paper. A video presenting the build process will come in the future.

I hope some of you will recognize the character and it will bring you joy the fact that you can now print it and add it to your collection, there is not a lot of information online as the show is quite obscure
