Description

When I designed my first Dahlgren Cannon there were some comments saying the model was too big, and also could I design a Cannon which didn't use any metal parts like the Galvanized wire for the handles and loading handles etc, so here we have version 2 which is scaled down to 60% and has no metal parts.

This version is designed to print easier with the main body using 2 colors for the body and barrel clamps, the remaining components are on 2 build plates using 2 different color PLA in this case it's Brown for the wheels and axle And Black Metal PLA for the wheel capping irons/barrel and ancillary components.

Assembly is easier with this version, the axle is located and is a snug fit into the main body, it can be glued for a more permanent solution, the barrel is aligned with the flat edge at the bottom end of the cannon facing down, push the barrel axle pin in to secure, the barrel end knob is a push in fit as is the rope hanging bracket and the barrel adjuster, wheels are aligned and the axle pins are a screw in fit, these also have holes in the end cap so wire could be used to resemble a split pin, finally push on the wheel capping rims, these are a snug fit, if they are a loose fit, then a little glue can be used, use this sparingly.

And there you have it, version 2 of the Dahlgren 12- Pounder Smooth bore Civil War Cannon.

Thanks for Looking.
