Description

This is my first concept for a Märklin K-track switch mechanism. The files include all components to install a ESU 51804 Servo to move the switch.

  • First cut of the end cap of the sleeper where the original moving sleeper is in.
  • Remove this moving sleeper
  • Draw a line in the centre of the sleeper
  • Place the drill assist with the big hole over the line so the middle of the hole is on the line
  • Drill a hole 10mm on the side where the mechanism should come and a 2mm on the other side
  • Stick the 2mm drill bit in the 2mm hole and use that to align the housing on the underside
  • Screw the houising in place
  • Put the new sleeper in the slot
  • Put the moving bar in the housing
  • Bend a 0,5mm metal wire at 10mm from the end and place it from the bottom trough the moving bar and the moving sleeper
  • Place the cover in the hole from the bottom and screw it in place
  • Hang the servo in the sots and secure them with flat screws (in the servo kit)
  • Use the single arm on the servo attachment
  • Place the decorativ housing in the top of the hole and cut the wire flush with the sleeper
  • Place the lid.

!! Bare in mind, this is the first concept. It is working, but not perfect. I will adjust and fine-tune it in such a way the holes stay the same, but maybe some components get an upgrade that requires some swapping out.

!! It works if there are no other switches directly next to each other. I had two switches on parallel tracks, just 60mm c.t.c. and it would not fit. Now working on a better solution.
