Description

This is a simple 3D-printed spring brake designed to keep vertical packing paper or kraft paper rolls from unraveling and free-spinning. When paper rolls are stored upright, they tend to loosen as paper is torn off, causing the roll to expand and take up extra space. This part applies constant spring pressure against the outside of the roll, creating enough friction to keep the paper tight while still allowing smooth dispensing. The design uses a printed flexure/leaf-spring, so no metal springs or hardware are required, and it automatically maintains pressure as the roll gets smaller. PETG is recommended for printing, as PLA tends to develop memory and loses spring force over time, making it a poor choice for this application.
