24 Piece Origami Cube (Small) - twice the fun!

This is a smaller version of my original 24 Piece Origami Cube.  At 75% size I find it nicer in the hand than the larger version.

Note this is not just a simple scaled down model, as that would change all the tolerances as well, resulting is fused hinges, etc.  Instead it is a complete remodel.

The model prints as 24 pyramids and 24 hinges.  You can follow the instructions in the original model, here, to assemble it but I strongly recommend that you print the tools included with this model and use them as described below instead.  It makes the whole process much easier.  There are two holders that keep the pyramids in position while you insert a hinge, and a tool to press the hinge down with.

Assembly:

Take two pyramids and place them in the relevant holder as shown below:

Next fold a hinge and put in in position:

Then use the tool to press down on the hinge so it snaps in to place:

That should give you something like this:

Repeat that until you have 12 pairs of linked pyramids.

Now switch to the other holder and start linking the pairs of pyramids together in to a string, using the tool again to press the hinges in to place:

Eventually you will have a string of 24 pyramids.  Position them like this:

Then drop the two pairs at the bottom of the above image in to the holder and press the final link in to place:

And that's it!

The real fun with this model is not folding it in to a cube, but to see how many different interesting shapes you can create with it; some examples are included in the attached images, but I expect you can come up with many more.
