Chevy Cruze AC/Heat Vent Redirect Diffuser

Description
This isn’t a repair. It’s a parasite. A plastic snap-on parasite that latches onto the Cruze’s vent and forces warm air to go where GM forgot to send it. It’s not gentle. It’s not polite. It’s an engineered violation of factory intent—because the factory already violated you first.
My wife’s 2013 Chevy Cruze lost the one trick that matters in winter: blowing heat to the damn windshield. Somewhere deep in the dash—way back where the engineers hide their sins—a tiny plastic gear snapped. Common failure. Corporate origami. The “proper” fix is pulling the whole dash like you’re doing open-heart surgery on a car built to die.
Quote to repair it: over a grand.
Value of this 2012 with 200,000 miles: about five hundred bucks and a handshake. So no—absolutely not. I’m not donating $1000 to the Church of Planned Obsolescence.
It’s been 18° this week, so I built a stupid little contraption that hijacks hot air from the passenger vent and shoves it up to the windshield like a bootleg defroster prosthetic. If you’re driving a Cruze with HVAC amnesia—heat going everywhere except where you need it—this thing’s for you.
Version 0.7: It doesn’t explode into pieces anymore. Progress.
Downside: it snapped the vent fins. I don’t care. It’s not my car, and the big blue brick covers the crime scene anyway.
Also: PLA turns into warm taffy in this job. Heat makes it quit and smear like guilt.
Use PETG.
And shave a couple millimeters off the little hooks—unless you enjoy breaking more plastic in the name of purity.
I’ll keep releasing versions as I inch toward something that doesn’t chew the fins. This is my first 3D model ever—I made it in Plasticity—so yeah, be gentle. Print and use it at your own risk. I promise nothing. But if someone smarter picks this up and makes it better, loop me in.
Because sometimes the fix isn’t “factory.”
Sometimes it’s a man in the cold, building a lung for a machine that can’t breathe right anymore.
