T-Rexatron — Origin-Zero Mecha Remix
This is my entry for the Mecha Remix Contest.
The Origin-Zero Mecha lived in peace.
They made sure of that…
Until a shift in reality appeared.
Hundreds of hostile mecha emerged out of nowhere.
At first, everything seemed under control.
But when the battle appeared to be over…
T-Rexatron crawled his way out of the earth.
About this model
T-Rexatron is a remix of the Origin-Zero Mecha, designed to function as the ultimate villain within the Origin-Zero universe.
I chose a T-rex design because it:
- Works in any color
- Reads instantly as a villain
- Scales extremely well
The standard-size model prints in under one hour and is:
- Fully FDM printable
- Support-free
- Glue-free
Assembly & Printing
- Includes clear building steps
- Includes a visual poster
- Designed for easy, frustration-free printing
Designer notes
One of the main challenges was designing the open mouth while keeping the head completely support-free. A closed mouth would have been easier, but the open mouth adds far more character and threat and was worth the extra design effort.
To preserve the visual identity of the original Origin-Zero Mecha, I intentionally kept most of the core structure intact.
Only the following parts were changed:
- Head
- Hands
- Feet
- Lower torso
This way, the remix stays instantly recognizable while still feeling new and unique.
I created T-Rexatron to be a villain that fits naturally into the Origin-Zero style, works in any filament color, and remains easy and fun to print.
Designed with a focus on supportless printing, clean assembly, and strong visual impact.
Thanks for checking it out and good luck to everyone in the contest!
