Caterpie is a Pokemon that appears in the handheld game series "Pokemon" released by Nintendo Co., Ltd. of Japan, and its spin-off works.
Caterpie is a Bug-type Pokemon, weak and gentle, with Y-shaped red antennae on its head. Caterpie's first evolution is Metapod, and its second evolution is Butterfree, with Butterfree being the final evolution. To grow quickly, it eats a lot of leaves. It sheds its skin multiple times during its growth, can spin silk, and finally wraps itself in silk to form a cocoon. Its red antennae emit a foul odor to repel enemies. It first appeared in the game "Pokemon Red and Green".
