The filament tube holder that comes with the K2 series printer has a design flaw: its filament tube clamping position is movable, which leads to an excessively long section of filament tube between the fixed point and the print head. During high-speed printing, the overly long unsupported filament tube will swing violently with the print head, rubbing against the frame or other components (i.e., "tube abrasion"), not only generating noise but also potentially wearing down the tube and affecting filament feeding in the long term.
A common online solution is to add a "raising bracket" to move the entire filament tube outlet upwards. However, this disrupts the K2 series' carefully designed enclosed chassis structure and internal air circulation, leading to the failure of the heated chamber and affecting print quality, which is clearly putting the cart before the horse.
Therefore, the most fundamental and reasonable solution is to optimize the original holder itself, achieving effective fastening of the filament tube rather than changing its overall layout.
Solution: Refined Improvement of the Original Holder
Based on this, I designed a miniature improvement plan for the original holder. The essence of this plan is to make only extremely lightweight modifications (approximately 0.1 grams) to the original component, by adding a clever clamping structure to securely lock the filament tube onto the holder, thereby eliminating its excessive wobbling.
Inheriting the original design's ability to adjust the filament tube clamping position, users can still freely adjust the effective length of the filament tube, and can even achieve an almost minimal distance between the end of the filament tube and the hotbed glass, meeting advanced printing needs.
To address the slight differences in filament tube diameter caused by the sinkage rate of different materials (PLA, ABS, PETG, etc.), this structure is designed with adjustability, allowing for adaptation by regulating the clamping force to ensure constant stability.
