Build Plate QR Code Alignment Jig – Brother P-touch Edition

This project provides a flexible alternative for applying QR code labels to Bambu Lab X1 256×256 build plates. Instead of using pre-printed sheet stickers, which are difficult to source for some plate types (e.g., Smooth – High Temp), this workflow allows you to print only the specific labels you need using a Brother P-touch label printer with 9 mm tape.

QR code labels (Brother P-touch)

The QR code labels are created with the included .lbx templates for Brother P-touch software, sized 90 mm × 9 mm:

• BL QR Code – High Temp Plate.lbx
• BL QR Code – New Textured Plate.lbx
• BL QR Code – Smooth – High Temp Plate.lbx

Downloading the Brother P-touch files

To download the ZIP file containing these templates, select the “Download STL/CAD Files” option on this project page. The ZIP includes all .lbx label templates ready for 9 mm tape use.

Included alignment jigs

This project contains two alignment jigs optimized for labels with the QR code on the left side of the label:

• BP-QR-Jig_SideA_QR-Left_R02.3mf
• BP-QR-Jig_SideB_QR-Left_R02.3mf

Here, Side A refers to a build plate with the notch on the left, and Side B refers to a build plate with the notch on the right. Each jig fits precisely onto a 256×256 mm build plate, ensuring accurate label placement before adhesion and reliable QR code detection by the printer.

Plates in each print profile

Each print profile contains two plates:

• Plate 1: Text is embossed into the model for single-colour printing.
• Plate 2: Text is printed as a second colour for dual-colour or filament change workflows.

⚠️ Compatibility

Although these jigs may appear similar to those in the project for AliExpress pre-printed stickers, they are not cross-compatible:

• Brother P-touch printed labels should only be used with the jigs in this project.
• AliExpress pre-printed sticker strips should not be used with these jigs.

Each jig is specifically designed for its corresponding label type to ensure correct alignment and QR code recognition.
