T-26-4 (T-26A) — Soviet Artillery Tank
Print Profile(0)
Description
T-26-4 was an experimental Soviet light tank, created in 1935 at Factory No. 174 in Leningrad. This unique project involved equipping the hull of a standard T-26 with a turret from a medium T-28 tank, featuring a 76-mm L-10 cannon. The goal was to test the possibility of strengthening the armament of light tanks without a complete redesign.
Despite its impressive firepower, the project did not go into series production — due to chassis overload and deteriorating maneuverability. Nevertheless, it became an important step in the development of Soviet tank design thought and anticipated the ideas of future medium tanks — T-50 and T-34
