Prevue Small Animal Home 528 and 5528 ramps

This is a replacement ramp for the ones that come with Prevue small animal cages, specifically for 528 “Cottage” and 5528 “Suburban” models.

I didn't like how the ramps that came with the 5528 I purchased for my rats were pretty slick, and they seldom used them to climb. They're pretty young so they can scale the bars, but once they get older they will have trouble doing so, thus I did a simple CAD work to get a ramp that they will be able to grab with their little paws.

There are two segment versions you can choose from:

1. Stairs: A more advanced type that needs good bed adhesion
2. Panels: Simpler, ideal if you have issues with bed adhesion

There are three different types of components:

1. Structural bar
2. Segments (steps or panels)
3. Retaining pins

You will need 2 bars, 9 segments and 18 retaining pins. Assembly is pretty much self-explanatory--put the segments on the bars and use the retaining pins to hold them in place. The retaining pins have one end raised, to reduce the likelihood of it backing out. Once you put everything together, the ramp becomes quite sturdy and stable.
