Kitchen sink trash bin
Print Profile(3)

Description
I saw one of these at my parents’ house and was planning to buy one from Temu. However, I didn’t feel like buying more low-quality stuff just to reach the minimum order, even though I really liked the idea. It’s Christmas anyway, so I have plenty of time on my hands..

After a while, I came up with this, my version of a kitchen sink trash filter. You can use this to filter out food scraps when you wash your dishes and throw them away later. I found this to be better than the filters that go inside the sink because it doesn’t affect the water flow, especially if you have a slow-flow sink like I do.

So how do you print this?
Let’s start by printing these files first: “sink_trash_bin”, “sink_lock”, and “sink_ring”.
Next, glue “sink_trash_bin” and “sink_ring” together using super glue. I split “sink_trash_bin” into two parts to reduce unnecessary support waste. Please do not split this file into two separate objects, you can print them in place and remove both parts without any issues later 🙂
To reduce printing time, after layer 11 (or roughly 1 hour of printing “sink_trash_bin”), you can switch the machine to Ludicrous Mode and print at 166% speed.
Once you’re done with the first three files, move on to “sink_u_shaped_hanger”. To achieve the curved shape of the hanger, there are three options:
- Print it with TPU (which I don’t have).
- Print thinner strips so it can bend under the weight of the filter.
- Or you can keep it T H I C C. Right after the print finishes, while the part is still warm, remove it and bend it into shape. After a few minutes, it will retain its shape without any issues.
You can also bend it by heating it with a heat gun or hair dryer. I printed mine in PLA, so it doesn’t take long to heat up.
For the final assembly, insert the hanger into the ring. The “sink_hanger” is designed as a friction fit with “sink_lock” and “sink_ring”, but if it doesn’t hold securely under the weight, using super glue is recommended.
NOTES
Note 1: the “sink_ring” on the photo is v1, you will get v2 of the ring, this version will be smaller in diameter and the “sink_trash_bin” will covered it.
Note 2 (13.01.2026) : I uploaded another version with support, this will merge "sink_trash_bin" and “sink_ring” together at the cost of printing time and more filament.
Also a shorter version of the “sink_u_shaped_hanger” is uploaded for anybody have a sink that not too deep.
