Description

This desk toy demonstrates an unusual type of gear reduction, instead of using worms or extreme gear ratios, here the reduction is created by spinning two pairs of gears with an extreme small ratio difference in the opposite direction, into a differential housing. turning the needle once takes about 20-30 minutes of spinning. slow enough for a dramatic effect, fast enough to keep it engaging.

If you have an AMS you will have the added bonus letters on the socket in a contrasting colour but an AMS is not needed at all.

The exposed gears are a feast for the eye and the steam-punk inspired aesthetics make it a perfect conversation starter.  The reduction in the differential housing  is quite dramatic and intriguing to observe.

It is a 110-120 gr print, so it won't break your bank but it will take some time to print.

Assembling is a big part of the fun, take your time to remove supports and burrs , use a bit of grease for a smooth and satisfying operation, pay attention to the correct position of the gears.
