Customizable Silicone Mold Container
Print Profile(1)

Description
Customizable split-cylinder mold container — designed for casting silicone parts.
This model is fully parametric in OpenSCAD and allows you to generate different mold sizes by adjusting a few simple parameters. The design prints as two identical halves; rotate one 180° and they align using a pin & slot system for repeatable positioning.
This project is meant as a generic reusable mold shell that makers can adapt to their own parts, figurines, or prototypes.
🧩 Features
- Half-cylinder mold body
- Prints two identical parts — assemble by rotating one 180°
- Alignment system with male / female cylindrical pins
- Exterior flanges for clamping or rubber bands
- Optional interior base (flat bottom)
- Bottom outer lip for better grip and handling
- Interior watermark is only visible when a base is enabled
All geometry is generated procedurally — no meshes, no sculpting, clean Booleans.
⚙️ Customizable Parameters (OpenSCAD)
The following parameters can be adjusted in the Customizer:
- Inner diameter — internal mold cavity diameter
- Inner height — usable cavity height
- Wall thickness — lateral wall thickness
- Base thickness — set to 0 to remove the base (reccomended)
The mold interior stays unchanged regardless of flange or lip size.
If base_thickness = 0, the mold is open at the bottom and
the watermark is not generated.
🖨️ Printing Recommendations
- Print two copies of the same part
- Rotate one 180° and assemble together
- Use PLA / PETG / ABS — all work well
- 0.2 mm layer height recommended
- 2–3 perimeters are usually enough
- Supports are not required
Alignment pins are vertical and slicer-friendly.
Rubber bands, clamps, or screws can be used depending on your workflow.
🧪 Usage Notes
This shell is intended as the outer container for silicone casting.
You can place your master model inside and pour silicone to create the negative mold.
Because the model is parametric, it can be adapted for:
- electronics enclosures
- figurines & miniatures
- product prototyping
- workshop tooling
- DIY casting experiments
💬 Maker Notes
This design is intentionally simple and functional — more of a tool than a finished mold. Feel free to remix, extend, or adapt it for your project (magnets, screw latches, registration keys, vents…).
Feedback & remixes are very welcome 🙂
