Description

THREADGET | Print-in-Place Axial Focus Fidget

About the Model

Threadget is a tactile focus tool designed around calm, repetitive axial motion and subtle mechanical feedback.
Unlike purely rotational fidgets, this model is built for slow, satisfying screw-in / screw-out interaction, helping to occupy the hands and maintain focus without noise or distraction.

The model is based on a fully enclosed print-in-place threaded mechanism and requires no supports.

Surface & Tactile Feedback

The outer surface is covered with spherical micro-nodes.
They serve two purposes:
• provide a confident, non-slip grip;
• create a soft acupressure-like sensation during use.

The texture is intentionally rounded and non-abrasive, making the fidget comfortable for long sessions while gently stimulating the fingertips.

Internal Mechanism

Threadget consists of two parts that move axially relative to each other.
Inside, a concealed threaded mechanism is used:
• one half contains an integrated threaded rod;
• the other contains a matching internal nut-groove.

This print-in-place design allows one part to smoothly screw in and out of the other until it reaches an internal limiter.
The mechanism is fully enclosed, silent in operation, and prints in one go.

Included Versions

The package includes several variants:
Standard Core — clean, minimal version for pure axial interaction
Lanyard Edition — includes a bail for a strap or paracord
Keychain Edition — compact loop suitable for keyrings

Choose the version that best fits your use case.

⚠️ Important Printing Notes (Please Read)

Due to the tall geometry and small footprint, bed adhesion is the most critical factor for a successful print.

Recommended approach:
Clean build plate
I successfully printed this model on a Textured PEI Plate after washing it with warm water and dish soap.

Optional Adhesion Helpers

If you experience adhesion issues on your setup:
• reduce print speed near the top [During the last ~30% of the print height, nozzle leverage increases noticeably. For safety, slow the print down (Silent Mode or ~50% speed)];
• apply a thin layer of glue stick or liquid adhesive;
• try a build plate with stronger surface grip.

Use these only if needed — the model prints cleanly on a well-prepared plate.

Post-Processing & First Use

Initial movement
After printing, the parts may feel stiff or slightly stuck. This is normal for tight-tolerance print-in-place mechanisms.
Apply a firm initial twist to break in the threads.

Break-in period
If the motion feels slightly grainy at first, screw it in and out a few times — the internal surfaces will naturally polish themselves.

💡 Pro Tip — “Hydraulic” Feel

For an extra-smooth, premium sensation:
• add one small drop of silicone oil or sewing machine oil to the thread area.

With matte PLA, this creates a nearly silent, buttery-smooth axial glide that feels extremely satisfying.

No supports required.
Happy printing!

This model follows the same visual and tactile design language as Rotadget — its rotational counterpart — making them a matching pair in both look and feel.
