Legos inspired action minifigure

This is a highly flexible, legos-system compatible minifigure, inspired by the Origin-Zero-Mecha from Kit Crafters and remixed to allow significantly increased articulation and poseability compared to a standard minifigure.

The figure features multiple additional joints while maintaining full compatibility with the common minifigure and brick system:

• Feet fit securely on standard studs
• Hands can hold common minifigure accessories
• A standard minifigure head can be attached

The goal of this project was to combine the iconic minifigure look with the mechanical flexibility of the Origin-Zero-Mecha design.

Design Process

I began by importing the original STEP files into Onshape and preparing the geometry for customization using the delete-face command — an often underrated but extremely powerful feature.
After that, I scaled the model down to match the proportions of a standard minifigure.

From there, I reshaped the torso, arms, legs, and neck to resemble a classic minifigure silhouette while preserving the mechanical characteristics of the Origin-Zero-Mecha.
New hands and a new neck were designed from scratch, while the remaining parts were resized and slightly adjusted for improved aesthetics and better proportions.

Printing Instructions

Single-Color Print

Print Plate 1 ("whole minifigure one color") from the “minifigures” profile if you want the entire figure in one color.

Multi-Color Print

If you want certain parts (e.g. hands) in a different color, you can cancel those parts from Plate 1 using the Bambu Handy App, as shown in the gif below.
Then print the corresponding body parts from their dedicated plates in your desired colors.

Assembly Instructions

To make assembly easier, I included construction helpers that allow you to securely hold small body parts while assembling the figure.
These helpers are located on Plate 2 of the “minifigures” profile.
