Description

Parametric model of a bobbin for a weaving boat shuttle.

 

The default shaft wall thickness is 0.8 mm which is more than strong enough for use with high speed winders.

The default length is a little more than 5" in length which is longer than most common boat shuttles. When you download this model please press the “Customize” and change the Bobbin_Length to match your boat shuttle requirements. The “flanges” in the customization refers to the disks at each end of the shaft.

 

When printing the “0.20 mm Standard” profile in Bambu Studio will give good results regardless of the filament used.

 

After printing the end flange will need to be attached to the shaft. For ABS simply dipping the end of the shaft in acetone to soften the surface that when pressed into the end flange the two parts will weld together. For other filaments such as PLA a drop of glue will be required, please take care to ensure the inner hole of the bobbin is not blocked by glue.

 

Bambu Lab PLA Wood makes a very nice (aesthetically) bobbin, however for the struggling artist it is difficult to go past the PLA for price.

 

The bobbin with the default settings consumes 5 grams of filament.
