Description
The stele commemorates the Second Battle of El Alamein fought between October 23 and November 5, 1942, during the North African campaign of World War II. The clash pitted the Axis forces of the Italo-German Panzer Army, commanded by Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, against the British Eighth Army under General Bernard Law Montgomery.
