GRIM is a functional, field-ready 3D printable duck call.
It includes a printable barrel and matching insert, and is designed to work with standard reeds and cork — no reed printing required. Just assemble, tune, and hunt.
What makes GRIM different
Real-use geometry tuned for volume, rasp, and control
Compatible with Echo-style and BG-style single or double reed setups
Press-fit insert (airtight without glue)
Works for timber and open water
Smooth exterior — great for sanding, painting, hydro-dip, or laser etch
Insert and cork included for builders who don’t already own one
Internal diameter: 15.875 mm (5/8")
Recommended materials:
Best choices:
PETG – durable, balanced sound
ASA – excellent outdoor and heat resistance
Okay for testing
PLA+ – not recommended for hot field environments
Avoid:
Flexible TPU
Carbon-fiber filled filaments on tone surfaces
Print settings (tested):
Layer height: 0.16 mm
Walls: 3–5
Infill: 20–30% (gyroid)
Orientation: vertical, bell down
Supports: not required
Seam: rear or aligned
Assembly:
Print and lightly clean the bore if needed.
Press-fit the insert by hand (tight fit is intentional).
Ensure the insert seats evenly.
Install reeds and cork.
You’re ready to call.
Tip: If the insert feels too tight, bump flow +2–3% or reduce wall count by one.
Compatibility:
Designed for 5/8" barrels (Echo® / BG® style and similar)
Tolerances are tight to eliminate air leaks
