Description

BulbaFlower: The Sculpted Pokémon Planter by printEM

BulbaFlower is a minimalist, elegant take on everyone’s favorite Grass-type Pokémon. Designed to look like a hand-carved stone sculpture, this planter combines the world of Pokémon with a sophisticated home decor aesthetic.

The Aesthetic: Marble & Color

I chose to print this model in Marble PLA to give it a timeless, "museum-like" feel. By using a single, stone-effect color, the focus shifts away from the plastic and onto the arrangement inside.

This neutral palette was specifically chosen to make the colors of your plants truly "pop." It is the perfect companion for:

  • Real Plants: Small succulents or air plants.
  • Brick-built Flowers: I personally designed this to be used with plastic building block flowers. The contrast between the matte stone texture of Bulbasaur and the vibrant, glossy colors of these artificial bouquets creates a stunning, modern display.

Designed for Quality (2-Piece System)

To ensure the highest possible surface quality, I have split the model into two separate parts:

  1. The Bulbasaur Body
  2. The Angled Base

Optimized Orientation for Aesthetics

The core of this design lies in its specialized printing orientation. By separating the Pokémon from its base, I was able to orient the body at a specific angle that would be impossible if it were a single piece.

  • Layer Stealth: The orientation is optimized to hide layer lines on the most visible curved surfaces.
  • Detail Preservation: This setup ensures that Bulbasaur’s features remain crisp and clean, avoiding the "staircase effect" often seen on top-facing rounded surfaces.
  • Ornamental Finish: This method allows for a smooth, high-end finish, making the final object look like a solid sculpture rather than a standard 3D print.

Assembly & Printing Tips

  • Assembly: Simply use a few drops of superglue (Cyanoacrylate) to attach the Pokémon to the angled base after printing. The contact points are designed for a flush, secure fit.
  • Material: While designed for Marble PLA, it looks fantastic in Matte White, Stone Grey, or Terracotta filaments.
  • Walls: I recommend using at least 3-4 wall loops for real plants.
  • Infill: 10-15% Gyroid is sufficient.
