Drawer Inserts – IKEA METOD / MAXIMERA

With the small 30 × 60 cm base cabinets of the IKEA METOD series with MAXIMERA drawers, it always bothered me that the drawers taper downwards and thus become narrower

This design comes with two typical disadvantages:

• Less fits into the drawer
• Glasses, cans, round containers, or bottles tip over easily

With these drawer inserts, the available space is utilized much better. At the same time, additional compartments are created, which are ideal, for example, for refill bags (e.g., spices) or smaller kitchen utensils. In addition, containers stand much more stably and no longer tip over as easily

⚠️ Important: The models are only suitable for MAXIMERA drawers with side glass panels

Available Print Variants

There are four different printing options to choose from:

• Plate thickness 3 mm – with supports
• Plate thickness 5 mm – with supports
• Plate thickness 3 mm – without supports
• Plate thickness 5 mm – without supports

My own configuration (see pictures):

• Bottom: 3 mm with supports
• Top: 3 mm without supports

However, all four variants can generally be used both at the top and bottom, depending on the preferred stability or print time

1️⃣ Stability of the upper plates

After the inserts created more space, the drawer was naturally filled more. The 3 mm plates without supports in the upper area bent slightly

Therefore, I designed additional retrofittable supports that can also be subsequently inserted into already printed plates

Recommendation: For maximum stability, use 3 mm with supports both at the top and bottom

2️⃣ New print profile for the A1 mini

Additionally, a print profile for the A1 mini has been added.
Here, only 3 parts need to be printed to equip a complete drawer
