Description

Update 10/03-24:

I have also created a version that doesn't require screws. However, for mounting it to the table, you'll need some strong adhesive or double-sided tape.

**Materials Needed:**

- 4 screws (with a 4 mm diameter)

In my pursuit of an organized workspace, I encountered the challenge of finding a practical solution to store my headphones. I wanted something that wouldn't clutter my desk but would still keep my headphones easily accessible. After brainstorming various ideas, I came up with the concept of a retractable headphone hanger that could be mounted under the desk.

The idea was to create a space-saving solution that would keep the headphones out of the way when not in use but still within arm's reach. This led me to design a simple yet efficient holder comprising three parts: a top, a bottom, and a slider. These parts are designed to be easily 3D printed and assembled without the need for adhesive or additional materials.

Once printed, the holder can be assembled by snapping the top and bottom pieces onto the slider. The assembled holder can then be securely mounted under any desk using just four screws with a 4 mm diameter. This ensures a stable and durable installation that can withstand the weight of the headphones.

The retractable design of the holder allows it to be easily pulled out when needed and pushed back under the desk when not in use. This not only keeps the workspace neat and organized but also helps prolong the life of the headphones by keeping them safely stored away from potential damage.

I welcome any feedback or suggestions for improvements to further enhance the functionality and usability of this product. Your input is invaluable in the continued development of this solution. Thank you for your interest and support!

Pretty good print! a bit too much filament for what it is but at least seems strong! :)

the outer box is too snug of a fit and makes it hard to mount

Printed perfectly on some older Matterhacker PLA. I think the dull part of the print is due to the initial filament having picked up extra moisture over the years. The print itself was flawless on my P1S and the supports came away with a small amount of force. Once the supports were removed, all pieces fit together with no issues and installing it was as simple as drilling a few holes and affixing with some 4mm screws I had on hand.

Took quite a bit of force to get everything together... thought I was going to break it! But it held up fine and was able to get it installed.

The print came out great in PETG. The parts glide smoothly, and the supports can be easily removed with a small utility knife or a deburr tool. would print again. 🙂👍

the pull out piece that the headphones hang on snapped off after the 3rd time I hung my headphones on it. I re printed the one piece and Forced the setting to print in PETG which gave the piece much needed strength and hasn’t failed yet. The layer build up for that piece would benefit from changing the direction the layers are laid down from a horizontal to vertical deposition. that would most likely prevent that piece from snapping off
