Small Parts Cylinder – Child Choking Hazard Tester
Print Profile(1)

Description
Young children often explore objects by putting them in their mouths. A small parts cylinder can help identify items that may pose a choking hazard for children under 3 years of age.
Any object that fits completely inside the cylinder, without protruding above the top edge in any orientation, is considered a small part and may be dangerous if swallowed.
Small objects can become lodged in a child’s throat or be inhaled into the lungs, potentially causing serious injury. In the worst case, this can lead to choking.
This model is based on the dimensions of the CPSC Small Parts Cylinder standard (16 CFR Part 1501), with a redesigned exterior for improved appearance.
How to use
- Place the object into the cylinder
- If the object fits completely inside the cylinder in any position and does not extend beyond the top, it should be considered a potential choking hazard for children under 3 years old
