These dragons are fully print-in-place (no supports needed for the body) and offer an incredibly satisfying, fluid movement right off the build plate. Their unique, articulated bodies are made up of hearts and heart-shaped scales, making them the ultimate festive fidget toy and gift.
🐉 The Female Dragon (Glitter & Glamour)
- Aesthetic: Designed with a more glamorous, festive aesthetic, as seen in the close-up render.
- Key Features: Features large, detailed eyes with a prominent heart design on the eyelid/cheek, striped horns, and a head adorned with intricate heart "sprinkles" and glittery accents. This model is ideal for multi-color printing (using AMS or similar systems) to bring out the stunning, festive detail.
🐲 The Male Dragon (Classic & Bold)
- Aesthetic: Features a more traditionally scaly, muscular dragon head and body design.
- Key Features: Its body segments are composed of strong, interlocking hearts, giving it a powerful yet loving appearance. The male dragon can also be printed in multi-color, or it looks striking in a single, bold color like the red shown in the Slicer view.

The body segments have an integrated white or contrasting color heart on the underside/middle of each joint, creating a beautiful pattern as the dragon moves. The tail of the red male dragon (in one image) features a sequence of white hearts, highlighting the multi-color capability and contrast.
📜 Design History and Inspiration
The "Flexi Dragon" series is a community favorite, and for this special edition, I wanted to merge the majestic form of the dragon with the playful, intricate symbolism of Valentine's Day.
The inspiration came from combining the satisfying articulation of classic fidget toys with the visual charm of a romantic gift. The goal was to create a design that could be printed and gifted as a symbol of intertwined love—strong, flexible, and beautifully connected. The detail on the female dragon's head was inspired by holiday-themed confectionery and glittery makeup, making her a truly festive fantasy creature!
⚙️ Print Settings & Recommendations
⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTES FOR PRINTING ⚠️
- Difficulty: Due to the fine articulation and necessary bed adhesion, this print is not recommended for absolute beginners. A well-calibrated machine is a must.
- Bed Adhesion: Bed adhesive is highly recommended. Use glue stick or an alternative for secure placement and to prevent shifting or warping during the long print.
Filament & Standard Settings
- Printer: Bambu Lab X1C / P1P / P1S (optimized for AMS/multi-color)
- Filament: PLA / Silk PLA is highly recommended for a vibrant finish.
- Nozzle: 0.4mm (standard)
- Layer Height: 0.16mm or 0.12mm is recommended for maximum detail on the head.
- Infill: 10-15% Gyroid
- Supports: NO SUPPORTS NEEDED for the main articulated body. Supports are only needed for specific overhangs on the head (e.g., under the chin/snout) if your printer struggles with them.
- Brim: Recommended for good bed adhesion, especially for the fine toes and horns.
- Multi-Color: This design is highly optimized for multi-color printing (AMS).
📁 Slicer File (.3mf) Plate Configuration
The uploaded .3mf file contains three pre-arranged plates for your convenience:
- Plate 1 (Couples Print): Features both the male and female dragon, slightly reduced in size so they fit together on a single build plate. Ideal for printing a matched set in one go.
- Plate 2 (Male 110%): Contains the male dragon at 110% of its original size.
- Plate 3 (Female 110%): Contains the female dragon at 110% of its original size.
