Complete Toilet Flush – Repair & Replacement (FDM-Optimized)

Months ago, the flush mechanism of our guest toilet failed. Instead of replacing the entire unit, I designed this fully functional replacement flush mechanism, refined specifically for FDM 3D printing.

This project restores full functionality and performs like a brand-new flush.

🔧 Design Approach

• All structural and mechanical plastic parts are designed for FDM printing
• Components requiring material properties beyond FDM capabilities were intentionally excluded from printing

♻️ Reused / Salvaged Parts (Recommended)

To ensure durability and reliability, I reused:

• Original button springs
• Sealing washer (due to required durometer – better than TPU 90A)
• Fixing screw and special steel nut

Reusing these parts saves time, material, and failed iterations, and leads to a far more robust result.

🧩 Maintenance-Friendly Improvement

Instead of a snap-fit (which often breaks during service), I redesigned the final assembly:

• Added 4 screw holes
• Uses plastic self-tapping screws
• Allows easy disassembly and future maintenance
