Description

Gridfinity storage for 23 ga headless pin nails

i opted to go with a slightly different method than my brad nail storage as i didnt want to risk the more fragile pin nail clips breaking in half.

  • features eject lever for easy removal from the bin
  • 1x3 grid, 5 units high
  • includes holes for optional magnets in the base

bins shown are for nail clips up to 65mm (~2 1/2 in) long, however i made alternate versions that use the full length of the gridfinity space allowing for clip lengths up to 77mm (~3 in) if needed.

I just printed the only item I see I can print when I import the item into Bambu Studio. I just printed the bin, not that other part you push down to prop up the stack of nails. I noticed that once I looked at the printed body and estimate how much space the push bar will take, that half or less than half the height of the bin is usuable space for pin nails. Next thing I noticed is that it does not hold many pin nail strips. Whenever I buy pin nails at the box store or better yet I buy from Amazon, the amount of pin nails you get will not fit into this bin.For example, I bought a brand from Amazon called Grex. The 3/4 size is what I am working on. The grex pin nails holds 10,000 nails. I know it is a lot. From my estimates this bin would have to be maybe 2.5 the size it is now or a bit larger to accomodate the box of nails I have. I have other sizes and the smaller size, 5/8 also holds 10,000. All of the grex packs come with 10,000 pin nails each. I have up to size 1 1/2.

while the eject mechanism does take up some height i assure you its far less than half the bin depth, the intention of the model was never to fit the entire box of nails, especially as the amount of nails per box can vary wildly from brand to brand, but rather to make supply of nails easily accessible and organized within gridfinity while the rest of the nails in the can be kept in their box somewhere else

I’m going to try and scale the 1” model to accommodate 1/2” pins. I have a ton of those nails and they need a home too. 👍

Hey, love all your lever designs, and I just got a pin nailer, so perfect timing! Was wondering if it is possible to scale down to sizes less than 3/4 inch. Thinking maybe possible to fit multiple sizes similar to your brad nails ones, as I ended up with 23 gauge in 3/8, 1/2 and 5/8 inch sizes. If not, I may try and remix your design if you are ok with that.

do you mean a double wide box with all 3 sizes?. should be fairly easy to make one later today.

Yeah, just combine whatever sizes make it best fit in 2 units wide, or add it to the 3/4 inch version to make them all fit in 2 units depending on how the math works out, just don't want the wasted space of each one taking up a whole 1 unit wide you know. Your original 3 size brad nail one was perfect for not wasting space!

Hey was just wondering if you were still hoping to make the smaller version, really appreciate all the designs?

Hey, these are great! Would it be possible to get one for 1/2" nails?

Much needed for my cluttered shop. Would you consider making them for 1/2 inch pin nails? Also putting the size on each container would be a huge plus.

How exactly do I print the different sizes? When I open in Bambu studio from this maker page, I get a single bin on a plate and another plate has the little lever piece. I do not see any other sizes. So I then downloaded the entire package but all the files in the folders are .obj extension files and I cannot open those in Bambu that I am aware of.

there is a selection of print profiles on the right side of the page for each of the bin sizes. each print profile has its associated eject lever located on a separate build plate from the main model to make it easier to users who want to print it in a separate color from the main bin but don't have an ams or multi nozzle printer.

Yeah I realized after I sent this that all I had to do was pick a different item on the right to print different sizes. Thanks for all the answers. I am needing to cleanup a drawer that had boxes of brad nails, pin nails and staples. Instead of keeping in boxes I want to have a nice gridfinity layout but the key is to be able to insert an entire box into something like the models you have or maybe I can just get a plain bin that can hold an entire box. In some cases I have two boxes of the same so max I would want to store two boxes worth of each type of brad and pin nails.
