Majin Buu Realistic Multi-Color Parted Statue

1. Concept & Design

This statue reimagines Majin Buu with a realistic anatomical style while preserving his iconic anime identity. The physique is intentionally exaggerated—broad chest, dense muscle mass, and a confident forward-leaning battle stance—to amplify the intimidating presence behind his deceptively playful grin.

This is the artist’s first fully multi-color parted model, engineered so that every major visual element is physically separated: gloves, boots, belt, pants, eyes, and even the mouth. Each color exists as an individual printed part, meaning no AMS, no filament swapping, and yet the final assembly achieves a near-collectible finish straight off the printer.

2. Engineering & Printability

The model is designed to significantly reduce print time and failure risk. All parts are intentionally spaced with forgiving tolerances, ensuring they do not require tight precision fits. Many printers vary slightly in dimensional accuracy, so instead of forcing interference-fit joints that may fail, each part is meant to be assembled using CA glue (super glue).

Because glue bonding behaves best with warm surfaces, it is recommended to gently heat the joint area with a heat gun before applying glue, allowing the adhesive to cure faster and hold more securely.

Suggested assembly order:

  1. Lower body group (legs + belt + pants)
  2. Upper body group (torso + arms + head + facial parts)
  3. Final merge of upper and lower sections

This workflow makes alignment easier and prevents accidental mis-placement of critical connection points.

3. Display & Customization

Although fully colored through part separation alone, painters may optionally enhance shadows on the gloves, gold trims, or skin folds to elevate realism. The bold stance and muscular silhouette make the statue ideal as a centerpiece on a shelf, or as part of a lineup with other characters in the series.

The clean part boundaries also make it enjoyable for hobbyists who prefer hybrid finishing—mixing raw print colors with light airbrushing.

4. Conclusion

As the creator’s first large-scale multi-color parted sculpture, this Majin Buu marks an exciting new chapter. It delivers an accessible printing experience while maintaining professional visual depth. Your support and patience made this milestone possible, and more multi-color designs—such as a parted Mecha Mewtwo—are already in development.

Quick tip:

  1. For complex prints, avoid photography mode—it increases the chance of print failure.
  2. Calibrate your machine and use dry, stable filament to improve reliability.
  3. Filaments used are listed below—Bambu’s gray remains my personal favorite.
  4. Needle-nose pliers and Bambu’s FAC002-N scraper make support cleanup far easier.

Some people have mentioned that the M can be difficult to print, so I specifically created an alternative version that prints flat with fewer supports. However, with this method, the top surface of the M becomes the visible front, which means the details won’t be as crisp. That’s also why the original version was designed to be printed upright instead of flat. I’ve now released a separate print profile just for the M, so feel free to try that version and see if it solves the issue for you. Please also make sure you select the correct profile for your print size. At the same time, I’ve also released a 62 cm tall version for H-series machines, which is currently the largest size available.

This update includes the following changes:

1. Reinforced the supports for the spherical tip at the back of the head.
2. Changed the print orientation of the fists to improve visual quality.
